Car-Buying Resources

Before you invest in a new or used car, do some research.

Here are a few resources to get you started:

Safety Ratings - Look up the safety rating (1-5 stars) for cars you may be interested in purchasing.

Fuel Economy Estimates - Find out the approximate fuel costs, carbon footprint, and air pollution score for cars you may be considering.

Kelley Blue Book - For new cars, see how much a dealer typically pays (invoice price) and how much the average consumer is paying (fair purchase price). For used cars, look up a model's trade-in value, private party value, and suggested retail value.

Government Sales and Auctions - In addition to car dealerships and private-party sales, you may be able to find a car through government sales or auctions.
