Description of Project:

 

The purpose of this project is to assist the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with reporting, analytics and integration of information related to Transparency of state finances and spending.

 

Major components of this effort include the following:

 

Data sourcing from multiple agencies, sub-recipients, and vendors involved with ARRA related programs

Staging, validation and transformation of data provided by the aforementioned organizations

Centralization and organization of data for optimized reporting, analytics, and overall transparency

Design, implementation, and management of public and internal facing web based reporting.

Implementation of processes and controls across the above components

 

Description:

 

The Senior Oracle OBIEE developer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining components developed using Oracle OBIEE and related technologies.  This includes providing insight and guidance on overall system design, as well as working with the development team and infrastructure solving complex technical and application software issues.

 

The Senior Oracle OBIEE developer will be a go to person for Oracle OBIEE development and expertise.  They are responsible for working as part of a team and be able to be productive in a fast paced dynamic environment.

 

This position requires someone who is hands-on with recent implementation experience with Oracle application development and business intelligence tools and technologies.

 

Specific Deliverables:

 

Design, develop and support components developed in OBIEE and related Business Intelligence technologies

Assist in setup and configuration of related tools and technologies across dev, test and production environments

Working with team to support operational business processes

 

Experience Required:

 

·         At least 4 years of specialized experience in the design and implementation of reporting solutions with Oracle OBIEE technologies, with a high degree of maturity in complex report development including mapping capabilities.

·         ­OBIEE 11g experience a plus

·         ­At least 2 years recent experience in implementing web based BI solutions for internet, extranet and intranet

·         ­Experience in OBIEE and oracle technologies in a Linux environment

·         ­Experience designing and developing public facing business intelligence sites, including portals, dashboards, basic reports (charts, graphs, maps, drill downs) and advanced reports (ad-hoc reporting, maps, etc.).

·         ­Experience in reporting data and warehouse design

·         ­Experience in web technologies including web logic web and application servers

·         ­Experience in JavaScript and java technologies.

·         ­Proven effective execution experience in high visibility, high criticality programs with multiple stakeholders both within and outside of the client organization

·         ­State and or federal government experience helpful, but not mandatory

·         ­Experience in ETL technologies, oracle ODI, a plus.

Web Logic Release Engineer

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

* Provide systems management support for the VG Middleware (J2EE Platforms) ST, QA and production environments

* Strong knowledge of J2EE Architecture, Web logic Application server, Apache WebServer

* Provide support for Middleware related problems, including HTTP Servers, WebLogic Servers

* Identify and successfully troubleshoot problems. Work across EHS  teams to ensure problems get resolved.

* Monitor infrastructure capacity. Provide capacity analysis and recommend J2EE, Database, and OS turning and upgrade recommendations

* Work with other teams to improve security, performance, backup strategies and administration.

* Identify repeatable tasks and automate them.

* Create and maintain technical documentation including startup and shutdown and maintenance procedures.

* Implement EHS middleware infrastructure standards and workflows for supported environments

* Perform related duties as required.

* Provides off-hours support for Middleware related issues.

* Provide training to colleagues

* Participate in Disaster Recovery efforts

* Provide technical implementation plans for projects.

* Develop platform and environment documentation.

* Support design, implementation, and support of J2EE and WebLogic clustering and 24x7x52 availability enhancements

* Provide technical assistance to agency users and other agency personnel throughout the Commonwealth on technical, professional and/or administrative matters.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (5 years mandatory minimum experience):

 

* WebLogic Administration

* J2EE development experience (understanding of J2EE Software Architecture) a plus.

* SOA development experience a plus.

* Clear understanding of the J2EE software architecture and standards (requirement) and how it relates to the various Middleware (J2EE) platforms and APIs.

* Strong shell scripting and unix utility scripting experience.

* Knowledge and/or experience in migrating software, and the deployed J2EE applications to a later version of WebLogic, preferably 10.x.

* Knowledge and experience in configuring proxy plug-ins for WebLogic.

* Knowledge and experience with application build software.

* Experience with J2EE enterprise (large) application support.

* Support of clustered environments.

* The ability to provide senior level implementation and administration of enterprise Java middleware environments with minimal supervision.

* Significant experience with following Enterprise Java application-server environments: WebLogic. Experience with Apache webserver

* The ability to administer front-end web servers, especially with regard to how they interoperate with the java containers * connectivity, load balancing, etc.

* Fluency in UNIX/Linux environments * the native commands, tools and utilities, including core utilities such as awk, sed, and shell scripting(requirement).

* A fundamental understanding of basic networking concepts, especially in the realm of TCP/IP and internetworking.

* Support various forms of testing * user testing, performance testing including load and stress testing, and regression testing.

* Designed processes for application code migrations and supported migrations for large scale applications.

* Experience with application benchmarking and analysis of JVM resource usage and system usage.

* Experience with troubleshooting application availability and performance issues w/vendors and development teams.

* General understanding of current SOA patterns and standards.

* An understanding of the key underlying Enterprise Java technologies such as JMS, JDBC, and JNDI, and how they are configured and administered in the containers.

* Experience with managing application servers on Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems.

* Development experience with Object Oriented tools or Java.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

·         Applicants must have at least five years of full-time or equivalent part time in WebLogic Administration services.

·         Applicants must have at least (A) seven years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing, of which (B) at least three years must have been in work in which the major duties included J2EE application services, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

 

Substitutions:

 

I. J2EE Application Server Certification may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

II. An Associate*s degree with a major in the field of Data Processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

III. A bachelor*s or higher degree with a major in the field of data processing and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

IV. A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

V. An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/technical school as evidence of completion of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

VI. Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical school programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
