[DK GreenRoots] Clamshell Alliance

Just got off a conference call with some of the original Clamshell Alliance people, now nearly 35 years since the first Seabrook, NH actions.  It was about getting the band back together and going on the road.  Specifically, re-energizing the webpage <http://www.clamshellalliance.org> and preparing for actions and vigils on the anniversary of Chernobyl, April 26, in the face of the Fukushima disaster.  As you can imagine, over the last few weeks since that disaster, individual Clams have been emailing each other and the yahoogroup < http://groups.yahoo.com/group/clamshellalliance> has been buzzing, collecting information, debunking propaganda, mourning, praying and commiserating with and for the people of Japan and those about to caught in the radioactive rain.

We are trying to think our way through an online campaign with webpage, facebook, twitter, and whatever else we can come up with in conjunction with such other groups as NIRS and Beyond Nuclear, old comrades from back in the day.  One thing I have been asked to do is to look at purchasing other domain names to prevent spoofing (clamshellalliance.net and .us, for instance).  Previously, Clamshell was using GoDaddy.com and that may no longer be appropriate (nor affordable) so we are looking for cheaper, better, possibly renewable-powered alternatives.  We are also trying to think about security issues as, when we become more active, we will be subject to various PR and actual attacks.

So... if anybody is interested in helping out with some of these tasks or providing recommendations and ideas, it would be much appreciated.  There was also great interest expressed in bird-dogging and fact-checking the media, in the manner of the old magazine one affinity group used to publish, "No Nuclear News."

During the call, I posted the Fukushima section of Meteor Blades' latest Green Diary Rescue to give the old Clams an idea of what is happening on dkos now.
