DATA CENTER ARCHITECT

Location:  Nashville, TN

Duration:  1 yr plus

 

Task Description:

 

Will lead the efforts as the client plans, designs and moves to a new data center facility.  

As part of the preparation of new data center the client has built out a new environment for the purpose of testing, documenting and planning for the migration.

Major duties will include design, oversight and coordination of the data center environments. Use information gathered from the new and existing data center environment to construct physical server migration plans.

 

Will be responsible for:

 

Working with a team of IT experts responsible for the inventory, design, procurement, and implementation of the client's staging environment. This includes working with the client's staff to develop migration and transition plans as needed.

Function as the new and existing data center environments representative and point of contact to coordinate with IT management team on issues and provide project status.

Responsible for communication of detail move plan per server, risk mitigations, cost estimates, and lessons learned.

Assist the contracted vendors to develop migration plans, identify resources needed, develop schedules etc. to ensure a successful migration to the new data center facility.

Responsible for all hardware, software and fiber channel infrastructure, etc…. related to the new and existing data center environments. This includes switches, routers, fiber patch panels and associated transportation medium.

Coordinate with internal and external teams/groups to ensure the design and implementation of the new data center facilities will meet all requirements including, power, networking, HVAC, space, etc. related to the equipment and infrastructure.

Evaluate, monitor, or ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures.

 

Required Skills:

 

Must have 10 years IT experience with a minimum of 2 years experience as a Data Center Architect

5 yrs experience performing technology research and development, enterprise software evaluations, documenting current state, future state, performing gap analysis, and creation of reference models. 

Extensive background in large, complex environments and Data Center migration projects

Must have designed or been involved in the design of at least one Data Center facility.  

5 years of server related experience including Sun, HP, Dell, etc. hardware.  

5 years hands-on experience with server migration efforts into a Data Center setting experience preferred. 

5 years experience with server planning and migration, and possess strong technical understanding of large server farms, disk storage systems including data backup technology and large complex network systems with failover capability.  

3 years experience with Hitachi and Brocade product lines and basic SAN

5 years experience working with and understanding of Data Center environmental including power, UPS, HVAC, etc. 

5 years experience of distributed system server concepts, server hardware platforms and disk storage systems, and disaster recovery concepts and technology is required. 

3 years demonstrated leadership experience and time management capabilities. 

3 years of data protection experience using tools like Veritas Netbackup, etc.  

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related studies. Advanced degree desired.
