Job Title: UNIX/Linux Engineer
Location: Livingston, NJ
Duration: 6+ Months Contract

This UNIX/Linux Engineer will conduct design and technical planning of migrations from existing SUSE and other Linux / UNIX operating systems to IBM P7 platform leveraging AIX, SUSE and AS/400.
Successful candidate must have direct experience in working on high-density UNIX environments leveraging boot from SAN, Virtual I/O, and have in depth knowledge about AIX, SUSE, RedHat, AS/400 operating systems and parameter settings and high-availability technologies required to facilitate mission-critical high-density virtualization.
Successful candidate will have extensive experience in a collaborative work environment.
Highly skilled and experienced in large scale automated deployment and configuration/patching techniques using scripts and software tools (BMC BladeLogic).
This position will require technical collaboration with management, application development, project managers and other infrastructure engineering groups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Due to the many changes IBM made, experience with version 2.1 is necessary in the client's environment.
3 years' experience with AIX 6.1.
IBM P750 and P740 experience is a plus.
At least 5 years' experience working in a large business environment.
Must be able to follow the processes the client has in place. Working on production servers without a trouble ticket will get you fired at most places.
HACMP, NIM, VIO, Virtual Processors, and Processor Pools
This UNIX/Linux Engineer must be a good mentor and enjoy teaching others.
