Idea needs 2  Mid-to Sr.-  level Oracle DBAs:  who will utilize the Oracle DBMS 10G platform on Windows and Unix to host numerous database systems.  Idea is requesting consulting services for maintenance, monitoring and support of Oracle databases in various environments (development, test and production).   The ideal candidate would have worked with as a DBA for both SQL and Oracle.
 
Position: Oracle/SQL DBA
Location: St. Louis, MO
Duration- 12 months

The activities with the scope include but not limited to the following:


24x7 support of the production system for: Break/fix situations. 

Problem research and resolution Firecalls. 

Recover data from backup. 

General technical support and Q&A.

Problem research and resolution (dev, test and production). 

Archive log space errors. 

Tablespace and datafile space errors. 

Blocking locks. 

Application errors. 

Client software issues. 

Poor performance.

Support for upgrades, patches and bug fixes. 

Upgrade client software, including ITRM and software distribution processes. 

Test administrative functions. 

Database upgrades and Oracle patches KPI metrics – collection and reporting. 

Application development support. 

Create/modify database objects (DDL), per ABI standards. 

Creation of new databases and userids, per ABI standards.

Creation of standard roles and granting of accessrights, per ABI standards.

Enforcement of AB security rules: 

Removal of userids belonging to individuals who have separated from ABI. 

Removal of userids in violation of the 10-day initial password rule. 

Removal of inactive userids. 

Firecalls – disable after 24 hours. 

Change admin passwords every 90 days.

Monitor the dev, test and production systems, and adjust/correct as needed. 

Any failure or error generated by a DBA/Ops-owned monitor, report or maintenance job. 

Overall system performance, "real-time". 

Customer application process alerts. 

Oracle monitor alerts.

Overall system resource usage: monitor top consumers and investigate as needed. 

Backups. 

Maintain backup scripts – review automated report. Review automated report and correct items that could potentially cause failures. 

Verify successful completion and elapsed time. Investigate discrepancies. 

Tablespace and datafile usage – minimum and maximum thresholds, per ABI standards.

Archive log usage – metrics collection, primarily for use in problem investigation

.KPI performance metrics collection and purging. 

Monitor for long-running transactions which could potentially impact performance Monitor adherence to standards and correct non-compliant items.

General technical support and Q&A.
