Position: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Truckee, CA    

Duration: Contract to Hire

Responsibilities:

• Serve as senior level architect and engineer for all storage, systems (Windows & Linux/Unix), network and virtualization matters.
• Architect, design, implement, and evaluate current and future infrastructure initiatives for the highest level of efficiencies and performance
• Work with the network infrastructure team to troubleshoot, design, implement, and improve network communications throughout the enterprise
• Mentor and train lower level administrators and engineers in current skill sets as well as develop their abilities with advanced trainings
• Serve as a member of the on-call rotation team as a level 1 contact on a rotating basis
• Readily available 24x7 for issues of a tier II, III or senior level related to subject matter expertise
• Develop and maintain systems pertaining to the decision science requirements of the company (scripting, control system implementations, etc.)
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager, IT Infrastructure as well as working with other departments as needed

Required Skills

• Storage:SAN: FC, iSCSI, FCoE, NAS: CIFS, NFS,Clustered File Systems,Boot from SAN - iSCSI and FC, Network Appliance Filers, Cisco 9000 series FC switches
• Linux:Linux administration skills, preferably Red Hat,Building Linux servers for a Database environment,Linux kernel parameter manipulation,Linux performance metrics (sysstat),Scripting and open source programming (Shell, Python, Perl, Java, C),Maintain and manipulate the following file systems: ext3, ext4,Performance tuning of all services offered by a Linux server.
• Windows:Well versed with Windows Server 2003/2008 deployments in multi homed network environments,High level understanding of name resolution in a Windows environments, Ability to perform high level tuning of Windows environments,Capable of optimizing TCP stacks/TCP Offloading and RSS
• Infrastructure:Utilization of management tools for performance statistics gathering,Cisco UCS,10 Gig Ethernet Database solutions,SNMP and metrics gathering techniques,Email routing protocols,  DNS and name space management,Interface trunking (802.3ad LACP layer 2, layers 3 & 4, ALB, SLB server-side to switch layer),Networking protocols
• Virtualization:VMware vsphere 5.x (ESX & ESXi)
