BI COGNOS / Data Warehouse Developer
Position Description
• This position will develop business intelligence solutions for a large multi-national corporation with development taking place in multiple locations.
• Work on Data warehouse and meta data layer (Cognos) development of key company data
• Assist with BI Solution architecture and performance tuning
• Requirements gathering and analysis
• Experience with Design, Development and Support using industry standard tools and methodologies
• Works on a portfolio of projects; responsible to meet project objectives and stay within scope, monitor and track progress to plan, and manage personal work assignments
• Adheres to agreed upon scope, timelines, and budgets; ensures successful outcomes through proficient time management and resolution of issues
• Partners with peers when coordinating initiatives across functional areas; secures the involvement and participation of other IT teams, as needed, to deliver high quality application solutions and support
• Advocates and enforces applicable standards, policies, procedures, and best practices in the implementation and/or maintenance of application or application modules
• Stay abreast of BI industry best practices and relevant new technologies
Position Requirements
• Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited university.
• 5+ years developing Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing solutions
• 3+ years developing solutions using Oracle and Cognos
• Advanced experience developing Cognos Framework Manager packages
• Solid understanding of advanced Data Warehousing methods (Star schemas)
• PL/SQL stored procedures query development and optimization
• Understanding of dimensional data structures and complex hierarchies
• Agile BI DW development methodologies
• Ability to perform all facets of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Ability to support a multi-site, multi-country customer base.
• Ability to work in a team environment, effectively interacting with others.
• Must know what satisfies customers and make customer satisfaction a high priority for self and team.
• Must be results-oriented, and demonstrate a "can-do" attitude -- adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
• Must have good people management skills
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the ability to facilitate analysis and issue resolution across multiple systems and groups.
