Data Center Migration Project Manager Specialist

 Data Center Migration/Relocation/Consolidation Specialist - candidate should be able to review existing Data Center configuration, platforms (Midrange, VMWare, Wintel, Storage, Network, etc) and advise on possible migration approaches, pitfalls with proposed plan, etc. Candidate should have recent, real-world experience in large, complex data center migrations, with the ability to drive the project to completion.

·         Strong project management and technical leadership skills, with specific focus on data center migrations, consolidations, net-new, etc.

·         Manage projects that involved server consolidation, software migrations, or infrastructure consolidation/moves.

·         Must have prior data center creation and/or data center expansion infrastructure project management experience.

·         Must be able to perform as high-level Technical Architect to oversee working technical teams

·         Ability to manage a project plan, track milestones and identify dependencies

·         Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to interact efficiently with people of all levels of IT expertise and position.

·         Previous experience as Lead Architect or Technology Silo (Platform) Lead in Data Center relocation/consolidation/divestiture required

·         Work closely with Infrastructure Planning Group and Facilities Management team to ensure that appropriate infrastructure is in place for equipment that will be relocated

·         Previous experience with being a team contributor – Provides leadership to build and maintain supportive relationships and commitment of team members to team goals and objectives

·         Proficient in computer room design (racks, cabling, power, etc.)

·         Proficient in data center environmental requirements (Power, HVAC…)

·         Previous experience with Application Dependency Discovery required

·         Previous experience with working through various vendor contracts.

·         Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences, including Executives and VPs

·         Excellent negotiation and influence skills

·         Min 10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure projects

·         Proficient in Microsoft Project v7.0 and above

·         Proficient with estimating the effort to complete the project milestones, and track the forecast and budget of the project

·         Project Management Certification (a plus but not mandatory), with the requirement to work within the in-house project management methodology

·         Prior experience on projects with federal, state or local government is desirable, but not required.
