Job Title: Network Administrator
Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 Months
The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting a SC Agency’s computer systems. The Network and Systems Administrator designs and installs LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.
Primary responsibilities of the Network and Systems Administrator:
Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
Maintain system efficiency.
Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together.
Troubleshoot problems reported by users.
Make recommendations for future upgrades.
Maintain network and system security.
Analyze and isolate issues.
Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
Evaluate and modify system's performance.
Identify user needs.
Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
Design and deploy networks.
Perform network address assignment.
Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.
Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways and intrusion detection systems.
Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment and security updates
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience requirements of the Network and Systems Administrator:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related field a plus
Industry Certifications a plus such as: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA); CompTIA Network+.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience as an Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems, and communications devices using current technologies.
Experience directly related to deploying, building, designing, optimizing, and maintaining Microsoft products such as: Windows Server 2003/2008/2008 R2/2012; Active Directory, GPO; DHCP, DNS; Microsoft Exchange
Server; Updates/Upgrades/Patching; IIS.
Demonstrated experience of Switches, Routers and Firewall configuration. Experience configuring VPNs for remote access.
Experience in backup and disaster recovery.
Safety awareness & commitment at the workplace.
Interpersonal: Capacity to develop good working relationships with superiors & work colleagues within the organization.
Problem Solving: Perform troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations. Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning.
Self-Management: Able to adjust priorities in a changing work environment. Must be able to work without direct supervision.
Communication: Excellent communication skills are required to function.
Technical: Server Performance Tuning, Solid Knowledge of SQL, MS .NET, Network Performance Tuning, LAN Knowledge, and Network Design & Implementation.
