User Experience Designer
Goal
User experience designers contribute to the vision of educational technology products and develop effective documentation used to implement and test the same.
Place
User experience designers bring together stakeholders and project teams in developing user centric product documentation that allow the development and testing teams to effectively deliver on the expectations of those stakeholders.  As a member of the project team they are responsible to operate according to a project's schedule and milestones and deliver to the same.  The User Experience Designer is primarily responsible to maximize users' success in utilizing our technology, enabling users to successfully complete tasks that the business believes are important to the marketplace.
Expertise
User experience designers should understand the artifacts and documentation that constitute an effective software specification.  These can include user personas, user stories, scenarios, site maps, work flows, screen wireframes and use cases.  It's important that the User Experience Designer understand the philosophy and benefits of both user-centered and task-centered design so that they can effectively express the need for specific artifacts on a per project basis.  As much as possible the User Experience Designer should empathize with and understand the motivations of the users of our software and the customers that purchase it.

We expect the User Experience Designer to use the digital publishing tools provided to achieve these goals.  Currently we document design using the Adobe Creative Suite. Other tools may be adopted depending on company and product needs.

The Team
The user experience designer will act as the single practitioner for specific projects in an agency model.  The Central Media Group is a service-oriented organization that provides UX resources on an as-needed basis for the success of designated projects within the organization.  Typically the designer is paired with a solution architect and a stakeholder team that helps provide inputs for the designer to produce the needed project artifacts.  On reaching agreement with the project team and the stakeholder team the designer facilitates the transfer of knowledge to the development and testing teams.  Other group interactions may be necessary as the project requires.
