Title: SQL DBA with Strong Oracle Experience

Location: Jersey City, NJ.

Duration: 6-12 Months

DBA Skills & responsibilities 

·  ·         Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle/MSSQL server software and related products

·  ·         Evaluate Oracle/MSSQL features and related products

·  ·         Implement and maintain database security

·  ·         Perform database tuning and performance monitoring

·  ·         Perform application/SQL tuning and performance monitoring

·  ·         Strong knowledge of the Oracle 10g/11g databases, MSSQL 2005/2008/2012 databases, related utilities and tools

·  ·         Strong Knowledge of the underlying Linux/Windows operating system

·  ·         Strong Knowledge of the physical database design

·  ·         Ability to perform Oracle on Linux/MSSQL on Windows; performance tuning and monitoring

·  ·         Knowledge of Oracle/MSSQL backup and recovery

·  ·         Good knowledge of Oracle/MSSQL security management

·  ·         Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle

·  ·         Sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning

·  ·         Heavy on MS SQL Server 2008 administration, backups, restores

·  ·         Monitoring and troubleshooting Database Backups (experience with Symantec NetBackup SQL agent a plus)

·  ·         Oracle RMAN backups & restores

·  ·         Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures

·  ·         Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams

·  ·         Patch Management

·  ·         Provide database administration support during deployments and migrations.

·  ·         Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)

·  ·         Mentor others on a wide range of database and analytic techniques.

·  ·         Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support

·  ·         Familiarity with Unix/Linux shell scripting or any other scripting a plus

General Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, software engineering or related field preferred

·         Seven or more years of database engineering, design, development experience

Job Specific Qualifications:

·     Minimum of five (5) years of experience with maintenance of a distributed Oracle Database System and MSSQL.

·  ·         Minimum of five (5) years experience in all aspects of Oracle implementation

·  ·         Minimum of three (3) years experience developing with PL/SQL

·  ·         Minimum of three (3) years experience supporting MS SQL and Oracle database accessed via a web application

Must have a combined total of five (5) years of experience with at least three (3) or more of the following:

·  ·         Database clustering

·  ·         SQL Server 2008/2012, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS

·  ·         Oracle 11g Administration/Replication/Performance Tuning

·  ·         Customized database queries or reports.
