Title: Desktop Administrator

Location: Work in Richmond, CA as a base of operations, but also be available to work in Sacramento,CA if required

Duration: 12+ months

 

Must possess the following certification:

·         Microsoft Certified System Engineer for Windows 2000 or 2003

 

Required Skills/Experience

 

The consultant must have 3 years of in-depth practical experience in the following:

 

  1. Desktop administration and support for Windows 2000/XP desktop and laptop computers, printers, scanners, file and print services;
  2. Administration of Microsoft Windows 2003 Servers;
  3. Emergency and disaster response information technology (IT) solutions and operations;
  4. Microsoft Windows Active Directory (AD) administration and tools;
  5. Possess demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills;
  6. Possess demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  7. Carry a cell phone and be available 24/7;
  8. Be able to travel;
  9. Work in Richmond as a base of operations, but also be available to work in Sacramento, if required;

 

Practical experience in the following:

  1. Desktop management tools such as SMS, Symantec Anti Virus, Active Directory (AD) Administrative tools, User Manager Pro, and Terminal services emulation software;
  2. Have significant practical knowledge of Windows 7 operating system and MS Office 2007/2010;
  3. Deployment of IT solution for base of emergency or disaster response operations;
  4. PC Guardian Edge Encryption Plus Hard Disk software version 7.0 or newer;
  5. Personal productive software such as MS Office, Project and Visio;
  6. Remedy Help Desk software;
  7. BlackBerry technology deployment, administration and support;
  8. HP and Dell server hardware configuration;
  9. Technical User Group training;
  10. Management of medium or large complex IT projects;
  11. Administration of Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 Servers;
  12. Day to day support of complex technologies, including LED and LCD display walls, AV communications and presentation systems, HD multipoint videoconferencing
  13. Activu display wall software and hardware;
  14. Crestron input/output control systems;
  15. Support of GIS and satellite phones.

 

Consultant will perform the following:

 

1.  Advise client employees on new technologies;

2.  Provide desktop, laptop, printers, scanners, and BlackBerry installation and configuration procedures;

3.  Provide State staff hands-on training to ensure proper knowledge transfer;

4.  Document custom application installation and configuration procedures;

5.  Resolve Remedy Help Desk tickets within the time frames specified in the Service Level Agreements with client organizations;

6.  Provide an inventory of EPO technology equipment including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and smartphones;

7.  Install and manage application clients including SMS, SAV User Manager Pro, and PC Guardian Edge encryption;

8.  Manage Active Directory (AD) Organizational Units

9.  Provide administration for smartphones, aircards, disk and removable media encryption;

10.Test patches and service packs for Windows OS and all applications in the EOC environment.  Upon approval from EPO Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) management, install patches.

11.Provide backup and restoration of network data;

12.Provide weekly and monthly activity reports to EPO ITT management.

13.General desktop, laptop, smartphone, printer, scanner and printer services support for RCCC/EPO business operations;

14.Provide desktop and LAN administration for the RCCC in the event of an emergency;

15.Day-to-day support of complex technologies that include specialized hardware and software for the RCCC; LED and LCD display walls, audio/video communications; HD multipoint videoconferencing, AV presentation systems, specialized Activu display wall software and hardware, and the Crestron system to control the various inputs/outputs;

16. Provide GIS and satellite phone support;

17. Maintain software licenses;

18. Prepare survey documents and coordinate the removal of old equipment;

19. Maintain updated inventory documentation for all RCCC hardware and software;

20. Provide annual list of recommended refresh or new equipment needs;

21. Perform system upgrades upon approval from contract management;

22. Provide project status and Ad-hoc reports to designated personnel;

23. Perform ongoing maintenance of PCs to ensure client software is active and responsive in the SMS;

24. Ensure all desktops and laptops are encrypted;

25. Support print queues;

26. Facilitate meetings;

27. Provide training to users on new technologies and system capabilities;

28. Maintain Anti-Virus Security on desktops and laptops;

29. Attend meetings as directed;

30. Attend emergency response meetings and drills, and follow-up on action items to ensure that technology needs are met;

31. Communicate ISO and ITSD policy requirements to EPO management staff;

32. When RCCC and EPO needs are met, the consultant will provide IT support to other clients within CDPH and the DHCS;
