Position: J2EE Application Architect

Location: HARTFORD, CT  OR Blue Bell, PA  

Duration: 9 Months

Application Architect - JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create high quality solution designs which address all architectural concerns including business, information, application and infrastructure. Serve as the primary Application Architect on a mission critical project. Designs must align with business blueprints, delivery constraints, enterprise business services, enterprise framework services and infrastructure standards as applicable. Accountable for the delivery of design solutions that promote flexibility, scalability and high-performance. This is a leadership position that requires an individual who can drive complex technical design across system domain boundaries. Candidate must be able to articulate strategy and direction for technology and architecture throughout the organization to support systems delivery. Our ideal candidate is an individual who can work in partnership with the development and infrastructure teams as well as the business community to develop or enhance advanced systems for Aetna. This position is a good match for someone who enjoys technical challenges and possesses excellent communication and facilitation skills.

SKILL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10+ years experience architecting, developing, deploying and supporting complex computing applications in a large scale environment>Experience developing and architecting object-orientated applications using one or more of the following programming languages: .Net , J2EE, Spring, Struts, J2EE, Hibernate, Cobol>Demonstrated proficiency in designing distributed applications in which multiple operating systems, languages, and vendor middleware interoperate.>Proven experience on enterprise systems integration projects>UML expertise e.g. Statecharts, Class Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, Component Diagrams and experience with the Rational Software Architect or Rational Software Modeler>Ability to apply design concepts – layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns.>Ability to lead a group through an architectural development process and collaborate with application development teams, architects and other members of the software development team.>Ability to discover and define technical requirements>Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required>Strong collaboration and facilitation skills are required>Use of Service Oriented Architectures in high volume transaction environments >Experience with rules engine(s) and/or work-flow tools is a plus>Sales Rating and Quoting System experience is a plus >Healthcare or Insurance/Underwriting services industry knowledge is a plus.
