Duration:  12 months

Manager comments:

intent is to find someone who can hit the ground running without having to train them on new platforms and/or teach the language.  augmented staff should come aboard teaching the business and not the technology. candidates that we've talked to have not been able to demonstrate solid knowledge of the C++ language.

 

Key-result areas

I. Design & Development:
• Responsible for design, development and maintenance of in-house application source code.
• Experience designing and developing server systems including networking, replication, high availability, message passing, etc.
• Responsible for software build process.
II. Testing:
• Provide unit testing in preparation for delivering to QA.
• Provide installation, configuration, management and support of the application software.
III. Technical & System Support:
• Provide 3rd support operational staff, identifying application-related problems.
• Investigate software problems.
• Re-create problems and try to correct them via system and application provided tools.
• Document and report problems to all involved support staff.
• Provide 24 hours on-call support to operational support staff.
IV. Training & Documentation:
• Provide training to other team members and operational support staff.
• Provide Software / Application documentation to operational staff and other parties.

Education and training
Software Engineering degree helpful, BS degree required.
Knowledge and skills
• Shell Script programming in UNIX environment is a must.
• Understanding of web servers (apache, tomcat) is a plus.
• Good understanding of Database concepts (Oracle 10g) is helpful.
• Good writing and oral communications skills is required.
• Strong organization and good interpersonal and team working skills is required.
• Must be a fast learner and willing to take training courses.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to finish tasks with minimum supervision.
• Minimal travel may be required.
• Will require 24 hours on call duties and carrying pagers, cell phone or like devices if/when perm.
Experience
• 7+ years of experience in software development on UNIX/Linux.
• 5+ years of C++ environment is a must.
• 2+ yeas of experience development in Java helpful.
• 1+ years of detail development for SMTP helpful
• 2+ years of SNMP helpful
