"Fact Checker" Misses Key Facts re Keystone Employment

WarrenS has taken on an admirable resolution: to send a letter to the editor (LTE) (or, well, a major politician) every single day, on the critical issues of climate change and energy. This discusses his approach and here is an amusing 'template' to for rapid letter writing. Now, I have always written letters and even had many published -- just not one every day. WarrenS inspires me to do better. Many newspapers state that they will reject letters that have been published elsewhere, thus I blog letters on a delay from 'rejection' (or lack of publication) and after this is thus an installment of the "unpublished letters" series publishing those LTEs that don't get picked up by the editors.

The letter after the fold plays into a media relevance beyond environmental and energy issues. After PolitiFact's declaration that Democratic statements re Republican effortst o "end Medicare" were the "political lie of the year" (without discussion of the Wall Street Journal's role in the matter and without discussing how Republican efforts might leave Medicare as a name but not program as we know it and, oh by the way, the minor problem that the "political lie of the year" was, well, a fully truthful statement) and PolitiFact's inept and tone deaf defense of their error(s), there has been much discussion of whether the "professional" journalists doing 'fact checking' are holding up their end of their bargain.

After the fold is a letter from ten days ago re weaknesses in a recent Washington Post "Fact Checker" article that examined employment issues related to Keystone XL and, as you will see, failed to even mention (and thus didn't discuss) some critically important facts.
