Skills that are absolutely required:

·         This position requires 3-5 years’ experience in web-tier server administration. 

·         Web-Tier servers include Web servers (Apache) Load Balancers

o   Load balancing is the computer networking methodology to distribute workload across multiple computers or a computer cluster

·         Advanced knowledge of App Servers (WebSphere Network Deployment and Tomcat), portal and webcontent management systems (Liferay/Alfresco).

·         –Liferay and Alfresco are free, open source “content management frameworks” that supports a lot of plug-ins built using multiple programming languages. 

·         Thorough understanding of all these types of systems deployed on UNIX servers with a focus on advanced troubleshooting and performance monitoring at the server software and operating system level.

·         In-depth web server skill set, with a thorough understanding of load balancers, single sign on solutions, and HTTPS/SSL communications

 

·         Strong UNIX (RHEL preferred Red Hat Enterprise Linux ) skill set with demonstrated knowledge of low-level operating system command sets and shell scripting

·         Prior experience working with integration points to middleware solutions (Tomcat, IBM WebSphere ND and MQ preferred)

·         Proven problem-solving, change management, and technical planning skills

·         Experience with Apache

·         Portal administration experience

Description of Day to Day duties: 

·         Provide high-availability support for web-tier systems ensuring uptime

·         Maintain technical documentation for duties

·         Expected to participate in efforts to determine best solutions and deployment methods for the web tier infrastructure.

·         Troubleshoot issues on the various web-tier servers running on UNIX/LINUX platforms

·         Participate in the software deployment process (system configurations, writing/maintaining rewrite rules, portlet and theme deployments etc.)

·         Provide on-call and after hours support for production environments on a rotation basis
