Position: SAS Developer

Location: Ft. Collins, CO

Duration: Long Term

 

Job Description:

The candidate will assist in the functional design, oversight, and analysis of custom-developed software as well as integrating COTS products into a complex and dynamic infrastructure.

 

The candidate will be responsible for:

 

•      Provide guidance and structure for creating and maintaining software infrastructure

•      Designing technical specifications for complex, integrated government systems which include numerous feeders crossing agency boundaries

•      Analyzing and data modeling to ensure data integration across systems

•      Designing systems using a service oriented architecture

•      Providing feasibility feedback and identification of errors and omissions in business requirements and collaborating with business analysts and business sponsors to resolve related issues

•      Collaborating with cross-functional team members

•      Document architecture decisions and results as part of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverables

•      Assisting business experts in defining requirements and solutions appropriate for the data and environment

 

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

 

•      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, I.T., or similar degree

•      7+ years of overall I.T. experience

•      5+ years of technical experience in application architecture, requirements definition, business process analysis, or similar disciplines (Sr. level)

•      Candidates without a college degree will be considered, but must at least 7 years of relevant development experience

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

 

•      Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to interface with various subject matter experts

•      Strong knowledge of BI concepts

•      Experience with designing and architecting BI solutions

•      Business process analysis

•      Applying sound judgment and tact in complex projects

•      Previous experience as a development lead or significant development team member

•      Experience with SOA and writing web service specifications

•      Knowledge of configuration management practices

•      MS Office Suite including Visio

•      Design and documentation tools such as Power Designer

•      RDBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle

•      Experience using XML and XSLT

•      Ability to multi task and work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment

 

Desired Skills:

 

•      SAS management and administration tools such as, SAS Management Console, SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS information Map Studio, SAS OLPA Cube Studio, SAS Financial Management Studio, SAS Forecast Server Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide

•      SAS Certifications or any completed SAS course work – base SAS Certified and/or SAS Certified BI Content Developers for SAS 9 highly desired

•      IBM Websphere development experience

•      Prior experience as an architect on a software development project

•      Experience with designing for distributed architecture

•      Experience with implementation architecture

•      CodeBeamer or other collaboration tools

•      MS Visual Studio

•      AJAX, HTLM, DHTML/XHTML, JavaScript

•      MS .NET, C# and ASP.NET

•      Experience designing for virtual configurations

•      Experience using REST approach in software development

•      Experience in Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum

•      Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements
