Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Description

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for all administration and maintenance of mission-critical (24x7), Oracle Databases serving our company. The Administrator analyze and resolves problems related to data, software, servers, usage, etc. He/She also installs and maintains the software including upgrades and patches, monitors performance, maintains system security and makes recommendations for planning and budgeting.

Essenstial Skills:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree.

10+  years of experience in Oracle Database Administration

4 years of experience as an application/SQL programmer on database management systems

Strong Performance tuning experience in Oracle

 Strong knowledge in Data Guard, RMAN, Security, ASM

Experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager 11G and 12c

Strong attention to detail and organization skills.

Ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in written and verbal form.

Application installation, data conversion and testing experience.

Proven experience with Query optimization, troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques.

Very good understanding of Oracle RAC

Strong Unix Shell Scripting Experience

Knowledge of Unix Administration and Clustering

Experience working with SAN storage

Additional skills desired:

Certification in Oracle

Basic knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL database

Duties and Responsibilities

Administering Oracle databases in production, development, QA and UAT environments

Applying Oracle Patches

Ensure complete and accurate backups of the Oracle infrastructure happen on regular schedule.

Installing and Configuring the database servers

Work with developers to deploy database changes

Maintain a change management log for the production environment.

Plan for migration to future versions of any relevant products in the technology stack

Participate in DR planning and conduct the DR Testing

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.

Maintaining and enhancing Oracle Data Guard

Performance tuning of Oracle databases interfaced with multiple applications

Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.

To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime

Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.

Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving

Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the database environment including rollout and upgrades.
