Position:  Oracle Database Administrator/Architect
Location: Fairfax, VA
Interview process:  phone and then onsite required
Prefers candidates in the Northern VA/DC/MD area.
 
 
BACKGROUND
  • Our clilent is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator/Architect (DBA/ARCH) for a critical new blood banking system, BioArch R2. 
  • This position will work closely with an application and infrastructure project team (AIIM) to support and manage a complex database environment. 
  • This DBA/ARCH will be responsible for engineering and supporting Oracle database development, testing and production environments.
  • He/she will also be responsible for configuring and maintaining Oracle 10g/Oracle 11g and Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 databases.
 
Contractor is to provide one (1) Database Administrator/Architect that must have:
  • Bachelors' degree in information technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years proven database administration experience in planning, implementing, operating, managing, and integrating complex enterprise infrastructure. Extensive experience in Oracle 10g/11g R2 RAC implementations on IBM AIX 6.1 LPAR platforms.
  • Strong experience using Oracle ASM in EMC DMX3 SAN environment, Oracle Profiling, Performance tuning, Query optimization, and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g/11g Grid Control.
  • Must have strong experience using Oracle technologies such as Oracle Streams, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle Change Data Capture (CDC), Oracle Datapumps, Oracle Transportable Tablespaces, Oracle backup and Recovery using RMAN and SQL/PLSQL programming.
  • Strong exposure working with Oracle in J2EE application server multi-tier environments and Oracle on IBM platforms is a plus.
  • Good experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 using SQL Cluster, SQL Database mirroring, Data replication and SQL Server management studio.
  • Oracle and/or Microsoft certification is a plus.
  • Good understanding of ETL tools such as Informatica and prior experience of supporting Data migration and Data warehouse environments is a plus.
