Business Analyst Role/ Resource Description General
The Business Analyst serves as the IT liaison to functional business process owners to translate and prioritize requirements for project and maintenance work. The Business Analyst is responsible for documenting business requirements. The Business Analyst selects appropriate techniques for the elicitation of detailed requirements taking into account the nature of the required changes, established practice and the characteristics and culture of those providing the requirements. The role specifies and documents business requirements as directed, ensuring testability and traceability back to source. The role also works with business partners and quality assurance in defining acceptance tests. The Business Analyst provides consultation as required through project life cycle.
Primary Responsibilities
* Work with end-users, business partners, senior management, and suppliers to define business requirements for defect resolution or solution development
* Perform analysis of changes to policy or laws to identify business requirements as needed
* Provide subject matter expertise regarding development of business requirements
* Model solution processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
* Assist with functional specification development, including data modeling and analytics requirements
* Work with the Project Manager and the business partner to ensure effective communication for solutions development, project requirements, project status, and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met.
Technical Experience and Knowledge
* Demonstrates an informed knowledge of a business area
* Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
* Skilled in business writing and project documentation standards
* Experience with HP Quality Center to document, change, and track requirements
* Resourceful and quick learner; able to efficiently seek out, learn, and apply new expertise
* Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
* Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint
* Deep experience as an analyst exhibiting strong problem solving skills, communicating in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluating information/data to make decisions;
* Experienced Change Agent – actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
