Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
Candidates with formal higher education degree (with an accredited college or university) in the field of IT is highly desired.
Must have at least 5+ years of hands-on RedHat LINUX/Solaris support experience within the finance and banking industry or equivalent.
Business writing and presentation experience is a must as this role will have regular interactions with all levels of management, including executives.
Required/Desired Skills:
Tier 1 (Required)
Core RedHat LINUX/Solaris operating system administration and integration knowledge. Specifically
someone who can integrate and implement…
• Builds for new versions of RedHat LINUX/Solaris (Using HP or Oracle/Sun hardware)
• Research/identify/test/deploy system OS and 3rd party patch updates (Security as well as periodic
• software maintenance releases)
• Setup/configure system security and entitlements
• Setup/configure access to local and SAN based storage
• In-depth understanding and ability to configure various tunable system resource/parameters (Advanced network configuration, Shared memory, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, NTP, FTP, YP, TCP/IP, NFS)
• Perl scripting (intermediate knowledge at minimum)
• Understand kernel and its components (drivers, libraries process intercommunication)
• Perform performance troubleshooting using standard OS tools and third parity debuggers (memory and CPU utilization, I/O components and other peripheral
• Knowledge of enterprise backup infrastructure (Ideally Veritas NetBackup)
• Can perform LINUX/Solaris packaging (Create RPM and Solaris packages)
• Configure and maintain LINUX Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
• Proficient with Microsoft office automation products: Word, Excel, Outlook..
