Position: Storage Engineer/Architect
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 6 Months
Providin Storage Management planning and support functions for the large volume of critical data which is housed and stored on disk arrays and automated tape library systems. Maintaining reliable access to disk data within specified response time objectives is critical to the overall reliability and performance of all storage systems. This position will monitor and tune storage area network and disk array parameters to ensure adherence to vendor specifications and to achieve expected levels of performance. A major function of this position is to implement and support the backup hardware and software infrastructure and operational procedures to facilitate the reliable scheduling and execution of regular system and database backups to tape and disk. It is critical to monitor and manage the backup infrastructure to ensure it is operating at maximum throughput levels so that backup windows are adhered to and that offsite tape rotations objectives are met on a consistent basis. The Support Analyst will set up and manage tape encryption features to ensure that data on tapes is encrypted according to company policies and will verify that offsite tapes retention policies and requirements are met.
Basic needs:
Install upgrades, patches and firmware on Netapp cluster mode filers. Work with Flexclones, Snapmirror, Deduplication, vFilers, vServers. Present disk using CIFS, NFS and FC.
Create documentation to offload routine activity (volume creation, resizing) and provide 24/7 support.
Implement Operations Manager 5.1, Protection Manager, Performance Analyzer.
Netapp filer experience with FAS 270, 2040, 2050, 3140, 3160, 3240, 3250, 6240, and 6280. Ontap 7.x, 8.x 7-mode and C-mode
Work with application teams to determine the most appropriate storage for new applications as part of various projects and make sure they are implemented properly.
Experience with Hitachi VSP, USP-v and USP storage arrays
The primary deliverable for this person will be to provide operational support for all storage related solutions
Brocade DCX, Tape library ADICi2K, i6K, IBM3584, Hitachi VSP, IBM DS35XX-88XX, Netapp 32XX-62XX, Netbackup 7.5.X, TSM 6.2.X
